Nurse Educator Graduate Certificate
The Nurse Educator Certificate online program at the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Nursing, prepares learners to design and implement nursing curricula, develop and implement meaningful teaching strategies, and effectively assess and evaluate student learning outcomes to facilitate learning in a clinical, classroom, and/or professional setting. The 12-credit hour program consists of five graduate level courses, including a practicum.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the general graduate admission requirements of the Graduate School, described in the UMSL Bulletin.
In addition to the Graduate School admission requirements the following requirements apply for the Nurse Educator Certificate program:
- BSN from a nationally accredited nursing program
- Unencumbered RN license
- Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, certificate earners will be able to:
- Develop, implement and evaluate curricula based on institutional mission, professional standards, educational theories, evidence-based practice, and continuous program evaluation.
- Implement evaluation strategies to assess learner outcomes in the cognitive affective and psychomotor learning domains that reflect both formative and summative learning assessments.
- Create learning environments that provide challenges and opportunities for cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills acquisition of diverse learners while ensuring safety, support, and resources for learning.
- Demonstrate the ability to shape the future of nursing and improve health care outcomes through instruction, mentorship, service, and leadership.
